“Ancient Heritage
Of
India”---Documentary
With about 800 dialects and 15 officially recognized languages, several religions including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism and Judaism, various styles of art, architecture, literature, music & dance and several lifestyles from the urban
and rural to the tribal, India is a melting Pot of Cultural Diversity.
In Indian culture, the body is invested with various meanings. This is reflected in its rich sculptural traditions where a language of poses as well hand and leg positions developed to convey specific messages. Decorating the body is yet another way of conveying meaning.
Throughout Indian history, the kinds of costumes and Accessories worn can be seen to fulfill two criteria: Simplicity and Opulence. In either instance the choice of clothing is dependent on the person’s status, wealth and religious orientation.
Costume played a dominant role in beautifying human body in all ages. Next to language it was probably the best item to recognize a group of people belonging to a specific race or living in a particular society.
Geography, climate and racial factors have naturally had a great influence on the history of India, and consequently on the costumes worn by its people. Temples, monuments, forts and palaces of India are still vibrantly alive and evidence of our ancient culture.
The Himalayas are not only the highest range in the world but are also the object of fascination for millions of people. The inaccessible mountain ranges presented a challenge to marauders, mountaineers and mystic monks in the past. But during the present times when scientific, technical and military skills have developed beyond imagination, the Himalayas have acquired greater importance for us from the viewpoint of security, strategy, integration and knowledge.

The most fascinating period of Indian history the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries when the country was ruled by an extraordinarily talented dynasty of emperors. The ‘Great Moguls’, as they were known to European travelers, were masters of almost limitless power and incomparable wealth.
The Great Moghul’s – the way of life of India’s most flamboyant rulers- their sublime palaces, including the Taj Mahal; their passions for art, science and religion; and their sophisticated system of administration that stabilized the greater part of India and was later adopted by the British.
From Research desk: - “ Timur had been in the country less than six month and left behind him a carnage unprecedented in Indian’s history. Famine was the inevitable results of the destruction caused by his troops; plague followed equally certainly from the corpses they left behind them. I t was said that in Delhi nothing moved, not even a bird, for two months.
